It begins with three girls living together in poverty on New York's Lower East Side. Meanwhile, on Central Park West, the neurotic but well-meaning Duncan Van Norman (Kenneth Harlan) is trying to be a writer. Through the help of Van Norman's doctor friend (Charles Mailes), Lory James Eileen Pearcy) -- the most mature of the three girls -- gets work as a typist for the wannabe author. She helps him look outside himself, and predictably they fall in love. But his socialite mother (Lucille Ward) refuses to abide by the match; she goes to work on Lory and convinces her that a marriage would be impossible. Lory leaves, but Van Norman chases after her to propose, even though his mother has threatened to disinherit him. Eventually all parties are reconciled and the young couple weds.
