DESCRIPTION:
Tim Scott is an electrical worker whose specialty is wiring on high-rigging, hundreds of feet above the ground. After a fall that claimed the life of his brother, he suffers from vertigo and can no longer tolerate heights. Hired on a huge government construction project by his old pal, Rod, he takes a much lower paying job on the ground. Rod tries to shame Tim in front of his girlfriend, in an attempt to get him to overcome his fears, but Tim remains terrified. When Rod is trapped 15 stories above the earth, Tim will be forced to face his fears head-on, or watch his best friend die.
This Pine Thomas production stars Robert Lowery who had a long career on Broadway and in films from Drums Along The Mohawk (1939) to McClintock! (1963), and stayed busy with TV work though the 1960s. Journeyman supporting actor Vince Barnett was known as a master of the insult. The wealthy would hire him to stir things up at their lavish parties by insulting famous guests said to include Winston Churchill, Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford.
Pine-Thomas Productions' HIGH POWERED is the mixture as before, a two-fisted adventure tale with a melodramatic "tortured hero" subtext. High-rigger Tim Scott (Robert Lowery) can't get over the fact that his brother died in an on-the-job wiring mishap. Nor does Rod Farrell (Roger Pryor), who holds Tim responsible for the fatal accident, intend to let him get over it. Tim gets a chance for redemption in the climax, when it looks as though the same accident is about to occur again. Former 20th Century-Fox starlet Phyllis Brooks provides the obligatory love interest.
