DESCRIPTION:

A disgraced surgeon with a dark past and a beautiful blonde are stranded on the Alaskan snow covered tundra. Barred from practicing medicine after a seemingly reckless operation results in a patient's death, disgraced Doctor John Mandre flies north to leave both civilization and his ruined reputation behind. After crashing his plane in the snowbound Klondike, the surgeon is nursed back to health at a remote trading post. He falls for young Peg Campbell, even though she loves crippled Jim Armstrong, who suffers from an ailment Mandre believes he can cure. But it's a no-win proposition for him: if he fails again, John risks exposure and criminal prosecution; if he succeeds, he'll lose Meg for good. A faithful remake of Klondike (1932), this 1940s programmer was produced by the King brothers, whose stylish """"B"""" pictures for Monogram - including 1944's When Strangers Marry and 1945's Dillinger - were among the best films ever released by that company. Taking the role essayed by Lyle Talbot in the original, silent-era matinee idol Edmund Lowe delivers a fine, understated performance.
