Following the success of his role as Tarzan, Johnny Weissmuller starred in a series of films as Jungle Jim, a character first depicted in a comic strip by Alex Raymond and Don Moore. Weissmuller played a hunter with a deep knowledge of the native people of the area, its land and animals. Most often, Jim faced off against evil and greedy scientists who were attempting to exploit the region, its people or resources for profit.
In Pygmy Island, Jim aids in the search for a female scientist (Ann Savage) lost in the jungle. After helping to locate and rescue her, Jim and the scientist work with the local pygmies to defend a crop of plants from evil agents with evil intentions that would threaten world peace, and US national security. Produced by Sam Katzman and directed by William Berke. Newly remastered.
