George Dolenz stars as Edmond Dantès, the hero of Alexandre Dumas' legendary adventure novel, in this rarely-seen television series. Dantès is a man falsely imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Escaping from jail, he creates the new identity of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo' to track down the men who framed him. The Italian-born Dolenz (1908-63) was discovered by famed produced Howard Hughes and signed to RKO in the 1940's, billed as the "European Leading Man". He is best remembered as the father of Monkees lead singer Micky Dolenz.

THE AFFAIR OF THE THREE NAPOLEONS: A young woman arrives at Dantès' mansion looking for help finding her father's murderer. The only clues are three gold coins she found clutched in his hands.

THE PEN AND THE SWORD: The Count seeks to uncovers the theft of three million francs by a mystery man known only as ‘Veritas'.

THE DE BERRY AFFAIR: Dantès foils an assassination attempt on the King of France, but is baffled when the King asks him to break the would-be murderer out of prison.

THE BLACK DEATH: As a deadly plague claims victims across Paris, the Count discovers that France's Minister of Health is distributing a phony cure.
