- Pretty Sue Graham dreams of Hollywood stardom and escape from remote River Bend and her dreaded impending marriage to druggist Aaron Applejohn. Salvation arrives before the nuptials when she wins a contest and is whisked away to Tinseltown to appear in a Hollywood movie. A string of calamitous disasters gets the poor girl fired. But when Ma and Pa's retirement money is stolen by a Hollywood shyster, never-say-die Sue determines to get back the folk's cash, and somehow, work her way back into the bright lights!
Beautiful former "Gibson Girl," Mabel Normand rose to super stardom in a series of classic Mack Sennett comedies and would become one of Hollywood's first female writers and directors. She would appear in scores of films with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin and at the height of her popularity had her own movie studio and production company.
