Originally based on a book by Frances Hogdson Burnett (author of Little Lord Fauntleroy and The Secret Garden), the film is set in Victorian-era London and follows the adventures of the character Sara Crewe. Directed by Walter Lang, and also starring Arthur Treacher and Cesar Romero. A little girl becomes a servant in a school when they hear her father has died. So instead of being a student she moves into the dark and dusty attic while she lives in hope that her father is still alive. Shirley Temple continued her Depression-era winning streak in this charming adaptation of the legendary children's novel. When Sara Crewe's father leaves her in an exclusive girls' school, many adventures and heartbreaks await.
