BONUS: THE DEVIL'S ASSISTANT (1917) - in which a physician enacts revenge on the woman he loves after she marries another by treating her exhaustion with maddening drugs. The film depicts her descent into madness in a red-tinted trip to hell itself. WHISPERING SHADOWS is sourced from a preservation by the Library of Congress from the sole surviving 28mm print of this title.
